Grade 7 graduates at the 2024 Tla’amin Nation celebration of student success
ʔaǰečxʷʊt Tla’amin Parents and Caregivers,
It’s August 1st and while there is still a lot of summer to enjoy the Tla’amin Department of Education team is already busy planning for the next school year.
A big part of this planning is making sure we have all the paperwork in place to support Tla’amin students to the best of our abilities. Our education services and team have grown a lot in the last two years. The team accompanies individual students and families by checking-in on students at school, offering to be present with parents/caregivers during school meetings, and advocating for students to be well supported and ensuring their access to needed external supports. In order to best serve students and families in this way, schools need to know they have your permission to speak to Tla’amin Education staff about your child and share relevant paperwork.
We humbly ask that you take a few minutes to help us to help you by filling in two time-sensitive forms, to be submitted together before the start of the school year preferably, and by the end of September at the latest.
The first is a consent form. This form tells the school authorities that you authorize our staff to support your children and youth. The form has a lot of choices, allowing parents and caregivers to choose how and by whom their kids are supported.
The second is the school supply allowance form for all kids K-12 living on or off Tla’amin lands.
Thank you for reading this to the end, ?imot
Your Tla’amin Education Team
