The Tla’amin Nation Public Works Department is dedicated to building and maintaining a safe, reliable, and sustainable foundation for our community. We replace aging infrastructure, maintain essential services, and ensure public spaces remain clean, accessible, and functional for all members. Through careful planning, reinvestment in housing and infrastructure, and cost-effective procurement that keeps resources circulating within the Nation, we support the diverse needs of Tla’amin people on- and off-lands while preparing for a thriving, resilient future
Services We Offer
The Public Works Department oversees the operations, maintenance, and long-term planning of community infrastructure. This includes water systems, community buildings, roads, waste management, and public spaces.
We provide support for community events, manage internal and public equipment requests, maintain facilities, and offer elder-focused services such as lawn care, firewood stacking, and emergency home repairs. We also coordinate cemetery-related services.
Our team also works closely with other agencies and departments to support intergovernmental services, manage water restrictions, publish service updates, and provide emergency response when needed.
Project updates are shared regularly, including timelines, impacts, and progress. Major updates may appear on the website and in community notices.
The department monitors water quality, usage, and capacity year-round. Water restrictions or service notices are posted online when needed.
Event and space bookings are managed through the Facilities team. Equipment may be used for both internal and public needs, though operators are internal staff only.
Public Works handles maintenance on community infrastructure and provides certain elder supports. Homeowners are responsible for private property upkeep, though a maintenance savings account program is available for community members who need assistance with private dwelling repairs.
Most requests can be submitted through the GIS service request form. The system filters requests to ensure they go to the right staff. For urgent issues, members can call the emergency line.
