Position Summary 

Job title:           Local Medical Appointment Driver

Work site:         Tla’amin Health

Status:              Part-time (3 days per week)

Start date:        Immediate opening

Salary:              $20.60/hr according the BCGEU grid

Reference:        #2022-09-26-DRIVE

Hours:              8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This position may be required to work outside normal office hours depending on the needs of the individual clients. 

Reports to:        Health Director or designate

Vehicle:            Tla’amin Nation asset

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely transport clients/passengers who have medical appointments to and from designated medical services or hospital at schedule times
  2. Perform daily vehicle inspections for deficiencies to ensure safety (as per check list)
  3. Maintains travel log and accurate reports and pertinent information documented.
  4. Communicates on a regular basis with Health Services and occasionally with Powell River Services.
  5. Assists those passengers who require assistance entering and exiting the vehicle 
  6. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:                                                                                                                                 

  1. Class 4 BC Driver’s License + acceptable Driver’s Abstract
  2. 5+ years of Driving experience
  3. Has Grade 12 or equivalent
  4. Working knowledge of BC Driving regulations
  5. Acceptable recent Criminal Record
  6. Basic First Aide & CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
  7. Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with people.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  9. Knowledge of Powell River medical services
  10. As per current Public Health Orders all employees working for Tla’amin Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in our community environment. Hours of work are 8:30 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday with a one hour paid lunch break.
