Tla’amin Lake Contracting Acquires Bill 13 Contract from Olympic Forest Products

qathet, BC — Tla’amin Lake Contracting, a partnership between Thichum Forest Products and Kechika Contracting, has reached an agreement to purchase the assets of Olympic Forest Products.

The acquisition includes a Bill 13 contract that supports an annual harvest of 180,000 cubic metres. This move strengthens local control over forestry operations in the qathet region and provides long-term harvesting stability for Tla’amin Lake Contracting.

“All along, our goal has been to build local stability and opportunity in our forest sector,” said Hegus John Hackett. “This acquisition means more certainty for workers, more value staying in our region, and more control for Tla’amin Nation over what happens in our forests.”

All unionized staff will be retained, ensuring continuity and stability in operations. Over time, the expansion is expected to create new employment opportunities for both Tla’amin Citizens and members of the wider qathet community.

Pending final approvals, the transaction is set to close on November 10, 2025.
