Hang Tight — The Reno is Almost Done!

Culture Portable make-over is nearly complete.

Crafting and regalia-making will resume on October 7, 2025, and all are welcome to come check out the upgraded space.

Whether you want to learn a new skill or work on your own projects, join us at the Culture Portable (next to Ahms Ta-ow) on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

“Think of it as a night you don’t have to cook!” joked Culture and Language Coordinator Sosan Blaney.

“In all seriousness, these evening classes are a great way to get out of the house for a few hours and work on your projects with a supportive and skilled group of community members.”

  • Mondays from 5:00-7:00 PM are for gift-making for Tribal Journeys and regalia work. Whether you’re working on family regalia, button blankets, vests, or contributing earrings, bags, or other gifts for Tribal Journeys, you can learn and create in a relaxed environment.
  • Tuesdays from 4:30-7:00 PM are for personal projects. Bring your quilting or sewing and use the new machines, or work on birthday and Christmas presents. Many community members also use this time to prepare for their family nohoms, creating give-aways and regalia.

Singing and Drumming (Culture Nights) Start October 1 at Ɂəms ʔayɛ

Culture Nights resume on Wednesday, October 1, 5:30–8:00 PM at Ɂəms ʔayɛ. They are open to Tla’amin people, as well as parents and caregivers of Tla’amin children.

Culture Coordinator Dion Marriot shared: “To properly honor and respect the families in our community, we are postponing our first Culture Night until Wednesday, October 1. While we follow our teachings of staying quiet, our hearts and spirits will be full of love and prayers of strength for Tla’amin.”
