Community Update: Legacy Home Ownership Project

Housing meeting tonight will address Legacy Home Ownership and other community priorities.

January 15, 2026

Ahead of tonight’s housing meeting, Tla’amin Nation is sharing an update on the Legacy Home Ownership Project and where things currently stand. We would also like to thank community members for their ongoing participation, questions, and thoughtful engagement as this work continues.

As of today, Tla’amin administration has received 45 Expressions of Interest for ownership of homes built prior to April 5, 2016.

Submitting an Expression of Interest is the first step in determining eligibility and next steps for legacy home ownership.

Community members who may be eligible must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) before January 31, 2026. This deadline is firm. If there is no EOI filed by January 31, 2026, legal entitlement to the home is forfeited, no matter what arrangements existed in the past.

“This process is easy, straightforward and supportive. Submitting an Expression of Interest lets us know you are interested. Home ownership can provide stability and peace of mind for families today and into the future, and we encourage members to reach out if they have questions or need help.” Dillon Johnson, Executive Council member for Housing and Public Works

Updated information, including a refreshed and detailed FAQ, is available on the Legacy Home Ownership Project webpage: https://tlaamin.boleyn.dev/legacy-home-ownership-project

The Tla’amin housing team remains available to answer questions, provide reassurance, and support members through each step of the process.

A housing gathering will be held tonight at 5:00 PM at the Salish Centre.

The purpose of this gathering is to meet the Housing team in-person, learn more about what the team is currently working on, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Future sessions will be planned in the coming months and will include Zoom options for those who are unable to attend in person.
