Welcome Message from Hegus John Hackett

čɛčɛhatanapɛč ǰɛǰɛ! Welcome to the 2025 General Assembly. This year’s gathering is historic—not only are we coming together to share updates, hear from our government, and spend time as a Nation, we are opening the doors to Ɂəms ʔayɛ, our new longhouse.

This is the first time since before the great fire that we will gather in a cultural house built on Tla’amin land. Our teams have been busy calling our treasures home from museums around the world. Now we get to be part of a moment that honours the vision of our ancestors. Regalia and drums are welcome and encouraged for the opening ceremony and protocol on Saturday.

Friday includes updates from our government and a special Tla’amin Management Services presentation, as well as a full afternoon of waterfront activities—from canoe pulling and cedar weaving to youth soccer and language classes.

To those who have travelled home from away: čɛčɛhatənapɛč. Your presence makes this weekend even more meaningful.
